THINGS TO DO
Perfectly positioned for a South Devon holiday
South Devon is an amazing part of the world. We have lots to offer including miles of coastline dotted with stunning beaches, areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Dartmoor National Park, unspoilt countryside, historic houses and castles, and lots of towns, villages and harbours to explore.
Sights and activities
Harraton Cottage is situated right in the heart of South Devon and is perfectly situated to explore the area. Choosing what to do from such a wide selection can be difficult! To help, we have compiled a list of must-see sights and activities. Take a look at our activities, days out and walks pages for details.
We are particularly proud of the beaches along the South Devon coastline. Each beach is very different, from wide stretches of sand, to secluded rocky coves – you can find out more about some of our favourite beaches here.
Rural and coastal villages and towns are scattered across South Devon. From harbour villages, to bustling market towns, they all offer something different to explore.
Harraton Cottage is very close to the beautiful small market town of Modbury, just a short drive away. Modbury is a lovely place to explore, filled with independent shops, restaurants and cafes. There is lots of quality local produce on offer, along with gifts and treats. There are also heritage trails available, for those wanting to learn more about the history of Modbury and the surrounding area.
Further afield, the historic town of Totnes is well worth a visit: set in beautiful countryside on the banks of the River Dart, this cosmopolitan town offers independent retailers, cultural activities and a lively community.
We also recommend a visit to the pretty seaside town of Salcombe, which is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It’ is a lovely place to explore, with spectacular views, a harbour and great shops.
